What Are the Common Ore Crushers?
1. Jaw Crusher — Primary Crushing Workhorse
- Working Principle: Material is crushed through squeezing and bending caused by the reciprocating swing of the jaw plate (intermittent compression crushing).
- Applicable Materials: Suitable for nearly all ores, including hard rocks like granite, basalt, quartz stone, and iron ore. Excels at handling large run-of-mine lumps.
- Key Advantages: Robust structure, simple maintenance, and large feed size tolerance. Used as the primary crusher to reduce large raw ore into medium-sized stones.

2. Cone Crusher — Core Secondary Crusher for Hard Rock
- Working Principle: An eccentric gyrating mantle compresses materials against the concave for layered comminution.
- Applicable Materials: High-hardness and highly abrasive ores such as granite, basalt, and metallic ores.
- Key Advantages: Superior wear resistance for hard rock, high throughput, and favorable particle shape. Equipped with hydraulic iron-passing protection.
- Disadvantages: Higher procurement cost; unsuitable for clay-rich or sticky materials. Poor performance for ultra-fine reduction.
- Typical Application: Secondary crushing following primary jaw crushing.

3. Roll Crusher — Preferred for Fine Crushing & “More Crushing, Less Grinding”
Utilizes compression and shear forces exerted by two counter-rotating rollers. Divided into two main types:
① Smooth Double-Roll Crusher (Hydraulic / Spring Type)
Ideal for fine crushing and pre-grinding treatment of hard rocks (quartz stone, cobblestone, granite). Based on material-bed compression crushing, it generates low and controllable fines. Hydraulic versions feature automatic yielding iron-passing protection, reducing ore down to 3–10 mm to realize “more crushing, less grinding” and ease downstream ball-mill loads.
