Technical Selection FAQ
Optimizing Roller Surface for Maximum Crushing Efficiency
Q
How do I choose the right tooth shape for my roller crusher?
A

Tooth roller sand making machine working site
Selecting the correct roller surface is critical because it dictates the “bite” on the material and the final discharge size. At HSM Heavy Industry, we offer three primary configurations based on your specific needs:
| Roller Surface | Best For… | Key Advantage |
|---|---|---|
| Smooth Surface | Fine crushing of hard materials (Quartz, Limestone) | Precise output size & minimal fines. |
| Toothed / Spiked | Soft/Medium materials (Coal, Clay, Shale) | High reduction ratio & aggressive biting. |
| Corrugated | Medium hardness with moisture (Sticky ores) | Balance between biting force and precision. |
Selection Tip:
If you are producing manufactured sand, a smooth roller is usually preferred to ensure a cubic shape. If you are crushing raw coal for power plants, a toothed roller is essential to handle the large feed size and maximize throughput.
